    Program Overview
    This one-year fellowship equips pediatricians with specialized knowledge and clinical skills in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of kidney diseases in children. The curriculum blends theoretical modules, hands-on training, and exposure to nephrology procedures and technologies, ensuring holistic expertise in pediatric renal care.


    Course Curriculum (12 Modules, 12 Months)

    Module 1: Fundamentals of Pediatric Nephrology

    • Renal physiology and nephron development

    • Fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance in children

    • Growth, nutrition, and development in renal disorders

    • Introduction to pediatric nephrology diagnostics

    Module 2: Congenital and Hereditary Kidney Disorders

    • CAKUT (Congenital anomalies of kidney and urinary tract)

    • Polycystic kidney disease, Alport syndrome

    • Genetics of inherited nephropathies

    • Antenatal diagnosis and counseling

    Module 3: Nephrotic and Nephritic Syndromes

    • Minimal change disease and steroid resistance

    • FSGS, membranous nephropathy, and IgA nephropathy

    • Acute post-infectious glomerulonephritis

    • Kidney biopsy interpretation and indications

    Module 4: Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)

    • Etiology and stages of AKI in children

    • Management protocols and RRT in AKI

    • CKD staging, nutrition, and growth monitoring

    • Progression prevention and vaccination

    Module 5: Tubular Disorders and Electrolyte Imbalances

    • Renal tubular acidosis, Bartter and Gitelman syndrome

    • Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus

    • Hypo/hypernatremia, hypokalemia, and metabolic alkalosis

    • Diagnosis using blood/urine analysis and imaging

    Module 6: Urinary Tract Infections and Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR)

    • Classification and management of UTIs in children

    • Imaging: MCU, DMSA, and renal USG

    • Antibiotic prophylaxis and surgical interventions

    • VUR grading and long-term follow-up

    Module 7: Hypertension in Children

    • Definitions, causes, and classification

    • Workup for secondary hypertension

    • Ambulatory BP monitoring (ABPM)

    • Pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment

    Module 8: Pediatric Dialysis – Peritoneal and Hemodialysis

    • Indications and techniques in PD and HD

    • Vascular access and catheter care

    • Complications and dialysis adequacy monitoring

    • Home-based peritoneal dialysis

    Module 9: Kidney Transplantation in Children

    • Pre-transplant evaluation and HLA typing

    • Immunosuppressive therapy and complications

    • Post-transplant infections and rejection

    • Long-term follow-up and quality of life

    Module 10: Urological Issues and Nephro-urology Interface

    • Neurogenic bladder, posterior urethral valves

    • Role of urodynamics and surgical management

    • Collaboration with pediatric urology teams

    • Bowel-bladder dysfunction management

    Module 11: Research, Case Studies, and Innovations

    • Case-based clinical discussions and journal clubs

    • Pediatric nephrology research design and biostatistics

    • Advances in renal imaging and biomarkers

    • AI and machine learning in nephrology

    Module 12: Ethics, Counseling, and Multidisciplinary Care
